It looks like more Georgians are packing heat. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has reported that there were 121,000 gun permit applications in 2008 compared to 68,000 applications submitted in 2007. That’s about an 80% increase over the prior year.

“The reasons for the increase vary. Some residents were worried it may become harder to get a gun during the Obama administration. Others said they just want to be able to protect their families, especially in high-crime areas.The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the numbers in Georgia are in line with other increases across the country.”

So what does all this mean for everyone living in Georgia. Be nice to one another and think twice before you attempt to commit a crime against your fellow citizen.
